Dwaine Perry says he feels unwelcome in his own home.

The 69-year-old chief of the Ramapough Lenape Nation spoke while sitting at the Split Rock Sweet Water Pray Camp on a recent day.

In the afternoon shade, a gaggle of geese waddled across the open field of the prayer camp and paid no attention to a couple of nearby tepees, which have become a source of strain with the New Jersey town.

Muriyd Williams, who goes by his tribal name Two Clouds, was carrying back two armfuls of freshly picked summer squash from a garden.
