Lenape daily life, culture to be discussed in Chatham Township

CHATHAM TWP. - Attendees of the Sunday, April 10 Chatham Township Historical Society lecture will learn about the daily life, art, religious beliefs, customs and traditions of the Lenape Indians.

John Kraft, Director of Lenape Lifeways Educational Programs, Inc., an archaeologist and educator who has presented programs on the Lenape or Delaware Indians of New Jersey and the surrounding region, will give the presentation.

The program runs from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Chatham Township Municipal Building.

Kraft has helped discover and excavate Indian villages and artifacts.

Attendees will have an opportunity to handle authentic and recreated objects such as masks, clothing, musical instruments and tools.
