Fort Bragg has a great historic preservation office run by a great bunch of people in Old Post a Georgian architectural monstrosity in itself. They hold and maintain some of the Southeast's most beautiful Pine Barrens, a Civil War battle site (Monroe's Crossroads) and historic church and village site once occupied by a group of Free Blacks and Indians.
This is the base's great website on the Indians of North Carolina both historic and current. It provides info on both history and archaeology. It also provides links to the tribe's websites.
....and no, you won't find the Ani-Stohini Unami...or whatever those knuckleheads are calling themselves now..............
