Re: Wildlife photos

A White Breasted Sea Eagle with a small catch from the lake.
A recent documentary showed these Eagles in the far north of Australia devouring in pairs up to five Flying Foxes(Fruit Bat large) a day.Flying Fox colony numbers are huge usually in the hundreds of thousands.

Re: Wildlife photos

What a strikingly beautiful bird! Oldsalty you sure have a knack for capturing really great shots. The eagles here always seem to fly away just as I take out my camera!  Not sure where your at in Australia, but I hope your staying dry.  The pictures we are seeing here of the flood areas look devastating.

Thanks friendoftheforrest Im kinda lucky with these eagles because their hunting territory is just across the road but they dont like to be photographed.
We are about 300 miles south of Brisbane where the main river is rapidly rising as I speak even though footage is showing sunny skies. They are expecting the peak in the next 24hrs.
About 40,000 homes and businesses have been effected so we will be paying for this a long time.
There is a local flood alert on a couple bridges just west of here so I might take a drive out their later.Nice country too!!

Re: Wildlife photos

Sometimes things happen that are unexplainable.
This is a native Red Wattle Bird that has adopted our home for about a week now.Soon he will find a mate.

Re: Wildlife photos

I found  a pair of Emus graizing on a rural property near Bellingen yesterday. Not sure if they were wild birds as they are endangered along the NSW coastline and usually restricted to a couple of isolated locations. However this was a little inland in country that deserves another visit. The road was closed a little further up due to rockfalls from the latest wet weather but come winter I will head up there for some snow and waterfall captures. The road is the Waterfall way which travels from Bellingen to Armidale on the New England Tablelands.NSW Australia
