I am announcing today the creation of the AMERICAN INDIAN FILM GALLERY,
an online site for the study of Native American history and culture
through archival motion pictures. Everything is TOTALLY FREE for viewing
and downloading.
While we continue to fill out the site, we have posted a mini version
the final project. This model contains six representative films. We
anticipate having more than 80 movies when the project is completed in a
few months. Each film will be accompanied by an assessment from an
authority in the field, plus a blog for viewers to lend their comments.
The website is accessible through the comprehensive address:
www.jfredmacdonald.com or directly through: www.aifilmgallery.com
The AIFG is dedicated to the proposition that the study of the American
Indian experience will benefit from a filmographical component to match
its printed, photographic and archeological materials. The films are from
the 1920s to 1960s.
If you have colleagues and/or friends interested in this field, please
advise them of this new site. If you have films that you feel would be
appropriate, I would love to post them.
