"Storytelling, Pennsylvania "Lenape" style"

THE STORYTELLING TRADITION
OF THE
LENAPE IN PENNSYLVANIA

FOR HOMESCHOOLERS in Grades K-6

Friday, November 14, 2008 from 10:30-11:30 am

Presenter Shelley DePaul, exhibition co-curator, is the Language Director for the Lenape Nation and is one of the few people in the world who speaks Lenape proficiently.  She has worked for the Lenape Nation since 2005 as Genealogy Researcher, Historical Researcher, Lenape Language Specialist and Educator.  She also participated in the organization of the Rising Nation River Journey and Treaty of Renewed Brotherhood of 2006.  From 1979-1997 she worked as a public school teacher, and she currently works as a music instructor.  Shelley DePaul received her B.S. in secondary education in 1979 from East Stroudsbourg University.

The Storytelling Tradition of the Lenape in Pennsylvania is sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology.  The Outreach Lecture Program is funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Children and their families are welcome to attend this FREE program being held in the library’s Community Room.

Registration begins November 3 in the Children’s Department or call (215) 885-5180, ext. 28.

wonder if she will take requests, hmmm, oh I know, I want to hear the story of "How a tailpipe became a Mesingw face", heard that was a good legend, and the "Story of the Lenape Prayer Chain", oh boy, oh boy, I can not wait for story time

  "How the Lenape Lost the Farm", that is a more modern one, but it brings a tear to your eye every time....

that would only be a temporary fix to the side effects, need to find a way to cure the DISEASE, ignorance has become widespread, almost to epidemic proportions!!!!

   **it as being real. That's enough to make you cry!  Has any one gotten to see the "Disgrace" yet?  This stuff and the Friends School! What is happening to Philly?
