"Lenape Legends" is the theme of a stage production in the outdoor amphitheater at the Somerset County Vocational and Technical High School, Bridgewater.
Showtime is 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27 for this program about New Jersey's first inhabitants. The actors bang drums and howl like the wind as Midge Guerrera takes the performers on an adventure through the woodlands.
Performers are from the Creative Arts department at the vo-tech school and children in a Young Actors workshop that day. Admission is free. For more information, call Janet Cantore Watson at (908) 526-8900, Ext. 7152. The vo-tech school is on Vogt Drive adjacent to the Somerset County Library.

HE! Gang,
When I read about this "Lenape Legends" Show - I thought about going - then I thought about gas $$$-
No thanks! Anyone who lives closer, up to attending and then reporting to us? Did they get this idea from the disaster at the U of Penn Museum? Is this farce going to "inspire" others ? ? ? ?

It starts to become impossible to correct the enormous amount of mis-information, sadly it is coming from educators!!!

HE! Lenape,
Did you view the "show"? or see a script. Any idea what school districts are going to be "entertained" by this _______________________ (fill in the blank)

No I have not, I wrote 2 letters, one to the organizer, and one to this lady explaining why the statements are offensive, and asked where they got the material that they are presenting, but as I expected I did not get a response. I can only *assume* that they are "banging on" a Powwow drum, or "Big Drum" which was not part of the Eastern woodlands culture, kinda "hard" to "bang on" a "Wet-skin", and I have *my* doubts that they are "howling" anything even close to Woodlands music!! I *could be* wrong, but anyway, my next plan is to get a schedule of their planned school and public shows and then I will begin contacting each one explaining some concerns, if you are interested in also contacting these schools let me know. I have had some success in the past by doing this, sometimes they just blow me off too, but for me it is worth the effort!
