“wikingen” and “aholan,” Lenape for marriage and love.

I was not going to say anything because the "language errors" of all of this is tiny compared to the rest of the BS, but for what it is worth:

"wikinge", or "wikinde" is Northern Unami for the verb form "to marry", the noun form which they were trying to grasp would be wikingewagan, or wikindewagan - "marriage" (southern unami uses a different word, with a very different meaning, at least in practice)

"aholan", likewise, is the verb form "to fall in love", this too would be aholtowagan - "love", in the noun form

(now I will duck behind my desk and await Sschkaak to correct me  big_smile)

I hate to be a stickler for detail (Wait!  No I don't!), especially when you're essentially correct.  However, I think you'll appreciate the expanded version.

"wikingeu"--in NU, from whence they're culling these words--means, 'he takes a wife.'  So, "wikingewagan" does mean 'marriage,' but refers, specifically, to the 'marriage of a man.'

The NU word for 'she takes a husband' is "cho."  I've never seen the nominal form of this word, but I suppose it would be *chowagan ('marriage of a woman').

"ahoalan" = 'to love somebody.'  "ahoaltowagan" does mean 'love,' as you say.

Wouldn't you know it!  Today, while reading one of the later Moravian Delaware texts, the translator put the phrase, "tacu nowikingewi" (i.e., 'I am not married'), into the mouth of a woman.  So, apparently, "wikingen" came to be used by both sexes, sometime around 1830.  That, or the missionary just made a mistake; although, this is less likely, since he's the same one (Abraham Luckenbach) who made the distinction between the male and female forms, earlier, in his learner's notebook.)  I also found out that the word, "wikingen," was being used by Southern Unami speakers in the 1820's.  It's recorded by Charles C. Trowbridge, at that time.  It has since fallen into disuse among SU speakers.

None of the women who run this thing have any education background. ( Starting a preschool in Costa Rico doesn't count.) It looks like the whole operation is a "toy" for a group of wealthy yuppie women who have way too much time on their hands.
It's REALLY dippy. Drumming, cartooning, dancing, finger play with babies? yikes

Ah! He reappears!

What the Hell is this suppose to mean???

4. CONFEDERACY: Chief Bob Red Hawk will contact the other Lenape Communities  to offer invitations to join us on the journey and/or sign the Treaty.

Not with us, or anyone else in New Jersey. Danawa Buchanan sent us a threatening letter when we refused the last journey and tribal members were told "to escort Danawa and Richard McNutt out when caught on the tribal grounds".
