"Museum Event for Teachers", look out NJ

http://www.southjersey.com/articles/?articleid=19612

Museum Event for Teachers

Camden County College’s Center for Civic Leadership and Responsibility is assisting area teachers who haven’t been able to get to the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology to take advantage of the museum’s classroom-enriching array of resources.

Thanks to the Center, the Penn Museum is coming to them.

“Educator’s Evening: The Penn Museum Comes to South Jersey” will be the first event of its kind. This collaborative effort between the Center and the Museum will feature workshops, samples from exhibitions and networking opportunities. It will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 23 in the Connector Building of CCC’s Blackwood Campus, which is located on College Drive in Gloucester Township.

Planned during the tuition-free session are

* A multimedia presentation on the Museum’s new “Fulfilling the Prophecy: The Lenape, Past and Future” exhibit, which will be given by Shelly DePaul, director of the Lenape Language Program for the Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania.

* The workshop “Lenape Teaching Basket: Teaching Culture through Artifacts,” which will reveal how the Lenape taught their own history using a representative collection of artifacts and how their methods can be adapted to the modern-day classroom. Also discussed will be the holistic approach used in Lenape teaching circles. Related lesson plans will be provided.

HE! Gang,

O M G  etc. Not sure I can make it - family plans - not sure I can get away -  Anyone else able to go and spy? refute? defend the truth? deny the
cr*p?   Protect the teachers from the misinformation?

                                       HELP!

LOL!
Well, at this point is there any defending left to do?  Seems that those chances have come and gone, at this point anyone showing up with a boat load of facts could not stop this snowball effect.  Jersey is not my area, that would be Nanticoke-Lenni Lenape territory and would not want to "step on anyones toes"

HE! Gang - Guess what!!

I CAN GO TOMORROW TO THE "PROGRAM" . Just talked to my daughter Eileen Flynn.  She's a Social Worker- usually busy transporting brain-injured people around. But tomorrow, she's scheduled for office work and can get out at 4PM. So I got out of the "family" thing and I will meet her at her office  and we will attend. A very nice young lady just registered us. She says at least 50  folks signed up.

I'd like some comments and/or advice on how I should approach this subject . I don't want to POST  my phone number, but  Ray W. and NP know my E-mail address, and Ray can give you my phone number.

                                               MaryEllen

PS: I usually stay up 'til midnight any way so can await your profound E-mails to me at this site.

I think someone is going. I'm not sure. The flyer was being passed around the center last Tuesday and some people were pissed that phony DePaul was stepping on our toes. But who knows anymore.

HE! Gang,

Nothing "explosive" happened at CCC College Thursday night. I have some "interesting" quotes. Am tied up with family things this weekend: report tomorrow.

One example: Display of "artifacts" on table, including necklace with red-black carved "face?" with white ringed eyes.  My daughter Eileen, age 47 - grew up with Lenape - had first girl's buckskin outfit at 3 years old.  She looked at necklace: "What's That?" ME: " Supposed to be a Mi'sing".
Eileen: Mom, you've got to be kidding!?!"

                            And so it went!
